A SUMMARY
Would you like to become a Quietude Practitioner, offering spiritual care for those on the journey of death and dying? One thing we all have in common is facing death. Everyone has or will experience bereavement and loss. Join Annie for a one day workshop to explore the themes of death and dying, for yourself or because you want to care for someone on that Threshold. During this workshop we will look at the phases leading towards death, and how we can support someone in practical spiritual ways at each phase. As well as developing our own spiritual practice and discover resilience through deepening our inner life. Open to people of all faiths and doubts, this workshop also serves as an introduction to the Quietude Practitioner Training, in depth part-time training and development course held over Seven-Weekends for people wishing to offer spiritual companionship to those crossing the threshold of death. http://www.emerson.org.uk/quietude.

When your mentor provides a strapline it will go here
My interest in spiritual support in end of life care evolved out of my work as a OneSpirit Interfaith Minister and spiritual counsellor. I was ordained in 2004, and became deeply immersed in creating and conducting tailor made spiritual ceremonies, including weddings, baby blessings and funerals, for those wanting a non religious, but a holistic or interfaith experience. I have worked with people in spiritual counselling, with a wide range of presenting issues, including fear of death, loss, grief, and search for meaning. These particular questions, the people I met through doing funerals, and my own spiritual research, as well as the experience of my mother dying, led me to wish to support patients and their families and carers at the end of life. I have been a voluntary chaplain in both a hospital and a nursing home, before being invited to work as a Hospice Chaplain, which is the job I currently enjoy. I am a qualified Soul Midwife, trained by Felicity Warner (author of The Soul Midwives Handbook), and am a certified Contemplative End of Life Authentic Presence Practitioner.
