A SUMMARY
This training is initially open to OPTIVO residents to book until 31st October. We will open up the places to the wider community on 1st November 2019, spaces permitting. The cost is £8.50 per person which is refundable on attendance. Through learning, discussion and practice, this half-day (3.5 hours) workshop will help you to start conversations that could save a life. I will teach you what signs to look for, ways to communicate and the appropriate places to direct someone having suicidal thoughts to find further help. I will equip you to follow the safeTALK steps: Tell, Ask, Listen and Keep-safe. safeTALK is the only quality and standard suicide-prevention training in the world, and is approved by the World Health Organisation. The location is The Pelham - a buzzing community hub, cafe and training centre in Bexhill. Fresh coffee and homemade biscuits will be served during the break. Each participant will receive a certificate, a wallet-sized reference card plus a resource pack with information about sources of support for people having suicidal thoughts. safeTALK is internationally recognised and evidence-based training. Previous attendees have said: "First class material, extremely professionally and empathetically presented." "Quite simply some of the best training Ive ever received."
About your mentor
Jacqueline Youldon
When your mentor provides a strapline it will go here
I am a suicide survivor. I struggled with suicidal thoughts following a lifetime of self-harm and eventually I tried to take my own life. I founded RunningSpace 3 years ago to teach people to run to beat suicide, to protect our communities from suicide and to support individuals back to life in all its fullness. I am a UK Athletics qualifies running coach and a registered safeTALK trainer.
