A summary
Being Scilly is a week-long multi-activity island holiday, all about having fun doing adventurous activities in a supportive, light-hearted and empowering way. With all activities led by women for women, in an inclusive atmosphere, this is an opportunity to learn from local outdoors experts and immerse yourself in the culture, nature and landscape of this stunning archipelago. Group activities include walking, swimming, cycling, boat trips, yoga, kayaking, snorkeling with seals, gin-making and a comedy workshop as well as guided tours around the islands and optional evening activities. Free time can be spent relaxing and exploring the islands. The focus of this team adventure is simply on ‘being’, however you are. The pace of life on the Scillies is very slow and peaceful. Locals exhort us busy mainlanders to ‘Be more Scilly’; just go with the flow and take your time! Inspired by this mantra, this holiday is all about being yourself, taking it easy and knowing that you’re good enough, exactly as you are. All the outdoor activities are approached from this perspective. We’re just showing up, having a go and enjoying being exactly as we are. Location: Garrison Campsite, St Mary’s, Isles of Scilly, Cornwall. Accommodation: Tents on a shared camping pitch Difficulty: Nourishing; gentle walks, cycle rides, swimming, paddling, yoga etc, all done at your own pace. Example Itinerary: Day 1: Arrive on Scillies. Settle in to campsite. Orientation walk. Day 2: Guided eco-therapy walk & talk. Evening supper boat trip. Day 3: Optional day trip to Tresco botanical gardens, or free time. Day 4: Kayaking adventure visiting uninhabited islands. Evening comedy workshop. Day 5: Adventure Scilly fun run and yoga on the beach. Evening gig racing. Day 6: Cycling tour of island. Scilly Walks guided archaeology tour. Day 7: Snorkelling with seals. Gin-making workshop. Final night dinner. Day 8: Closing walk & talk. Pack up camp. Departure. Cost: £800 per person. This includes campsite accommodation and scheduled activities. Does not include your travel to the island or food. Additional activities at your own expense. Please use the purple 'Contact Mentor' button to express your interest or ask me any questions. Expedition Leader/Wilderness Guide
I lead expeditions, camps and walks all over the UK and am passionate about empowering women to have fun in the outdoors. In my adult life, I've often been put off joining activity holidays, teams or courses because the standard of achievement was too high. I love to play hockey, but I'm not very good at it! I've longed for ages to find the 'C Team' where women can participate, try hard, get stuck in, but really not mind how well they do. Where we can have fun, completely unattached from notions of success and perfection. Where it's ok to be good enough, exactly as we are and unapologetically ourselves. This is that space. We are the 'C Team'. I love the sharing and camaraderie that comes from a group activity holiday and I can't wait to meet this year's team who are looking forward to 'Being Scilly' together.
